About the Program

Angel investing in Africa is one of the most impactful opportunities available today, yet most investors lack the structured frameworks to do it with confidence. The African Angel Academy Foundation Programme is a 12–14 week, cohort-based experience that equips current and aspiring angel investors with the knowledge, tools, and applied experience to invest decisively in early-stage African startups. Beyond the programme, you join a connected, pan-African community of investors committed to backing the continent's next generation of founders.

  • Key Program Details to Note:

  • Program Duration: 12–14 Weeks with weekly Commitment: 2–3 hours (combination of self-paced learning and live sessions).Live Sessions: Every Thursday at 18:00 (EAT) Group Assignments: Once every month

  • Program Delivery: This fully online program blends self-paced video modules and resources, delivered through our dedicated learning platform, Thinkific.

  • Program Fee: USD 850 for the full 12–14 week program

This Program is for you if:

  • You currently invest in startups or are interested in beginning your investment journey, either individually or as part of a group.

  • You possess capital ready for investment within the next 6 months and boast over 10 years of professional experience, enabling you to contribute value to startups.

  • You aim to connect with like-minded individuals to join or form angel groups, while driving growth in local entrepreneurial ecosystems.

This 14-week journey will comprise of:

  • 14-Module Self-Paced Online Course

    Discover how to source and negotiate deals, establish an angel group or syndicate, and effectively manage your portfolio with our online course content and Network with the full cohort of new angels for collaboration and co-investment opportunities.

  • Bi-weekly Live Investor Deep Dives

    The course instructors will host bi-weekly deep dive sessions with guest investors on Thursdays at 18h00 (EAT). These sessions provide an opportunity for you to pose specific questions about the module content.

  • Expert Masterclasses & Networking

    Learn about key topics from investors across the ecosystem, from an African perspective. Expert masterclasses are interactive 90 minute events, hosted bi-weekly on Thursdays at 18h00 (EAT).

  • Applied Learning

    Participants work in groups to complete three cumulative group assignments; each aligned with a key stage of the angel investment process.

  • Startup Showcases

    Meet investment-ready startups nominated by our pan-African angel investor community at our showcase events.

  • Join A Growing Alumni Community

    Join the African Angel Academy alumni community (600+ angels from 32 countries) to access further learning events, networking opportunities and dealflow.

Program Pricing and Discounts

Special pricing options are available for early applicants, group sign-ups, and referrals to make the program more accessible.

  • Early Bird Discount (10%)

    Available across all the African Angel Academy Cohort 13 learning tracks to participants who apply and are accepted within the first two weeks of the application period.

  • Group Discount (5%)

    Apply as a pair or group (minimum of 2 per group) to benefit from a 5% discount each in your program fees. Each person must submit their own application form and list their group members’ names and emails. Discounts will be confirmed only after all group applications are received and verified. Note: Selecting the group option without verified group members will result in standard pricing.

  • Referral Bonus

    Refer a friend to the program, and once they’re accepted and complete their payment, you’ll receive a complimentary learning module of your choice.
