About the Program

Welcome to African Angel Academy (AAA) Cohort 12, a fully online, self-sponsored program designed to help investors across Africa and the diaspora invest wisely and confidently in early-stage startups. Cohort 12 runs in a sequenced format, offering flexibility while preserving the cohort learning experience. The program features two distinct tracks: Mechanics of Angel Investing, for those building foundational knowledge, and Advanced Angel Investing, for experienced angels seeking deeper insights. A pre-program Bridging Course is a prerequisite for accepted applicants joining the Mechanics track who are new to angel investing, and optional for Advanced track participants who would benefit from additional foundational context. For those seeking a complete learning journey, the Full Program Experience combines both tracks in a 12-week sequential format that takes participants from foundational principles to advanced investment strategies. You’ll engage in a dynamic blend of self-paced learning and live sessions, with each track tailored to your experience level and investment goals.

  • Key Program Dates: Mechanics of Angel Investing (17 September–29 October) and Advanced Angel Investing (5 November – 10 December). The Full Program Experience including both the Mechanics of Angel Investing and Advanced Angel Investing tracks will run from 17 September - 10 December.

  • Program Duration: The length of the program depends on your chosen track. Mechanics of Angel Investing runs for 6–8 weeks (including a mandatory 2-week prerequisite Bridging Course), Advanced Angel Investing spans 6 weeks, and the Full Program Experience runs for 12 weeks. All tracks combine 2–3 hours per week of self-paced learning with weekly live sessions every Thursday at 18:00 EAT.

  • Program Delivery: This fully online program blends self-paced video modules and resources, delivered through our dedicated learning platform, Thinkific.

  • $500 for a single track (Mechanics of Angel Investing or Advanced Angel Investing), or $850 for the Full Program Experience (Mechanics of Angel Investing and Advanced Angel Investing).

AAA Cohort 12 offers two sequential tracks tailored to your experience and investment goals, with a prerequisite bridging course for participants enrolling in the Mechanics track.

  • Mechanics of Angel Investing | 6 weeks | $500

    Focused on building your investment foundations, this track includes hands-on learning on how to evaluate, structure, and close angel investments. It includes 7 modules, 2 live Q&A sessions, a masterclass on valuations and exits, and a negotiation simulation. A great choice for early-stage investors or professionals transitioning into angel investing. Includes mandatory Bridging Course prerequisite.

  • Full Program Experience (Mechanics and Advanced Angel Investing) | 12 weeks | $850

    Designed to take you from beginner to confident angel investor, this comprehensive track combines foundations, mechanics, and advanced practices. It includes 12 modules, 4 live Q&A sessions, multiple masterclasses, and interactive networking simulations. Perfect for those seeking a full-spectrum, cohort-based experience and continued support through the alumni community.

  • Advanced Angel Investing | 6 weeks | $500

    Ideal for experienced angels, this track helps you deepen your understanding of syndication, portfolio strategy, governance, and group investing structures. It includes 6 advanced modules, 2 live Q&A sessions, 1 masterclass, and a live peer networking session. A great option for investors looking to expand their networks and sharpen their skills, with access to the alumni community and startup showcases.

This Program is for you if:

  • You currently invest in startups or are interested in beginning your investment journey, either individually or as part of a group.

  • You possess capital ready for investment within the next 6 months and boast over 10 years of professional experience, enabling you to contribute value to startups.

  • You aim to connect with like-minded individuals to join or form angel groups, while driving growth in local entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Program Pricing and Discounts

Special pricing options are available for early applicants, group sign-ups, and referrals to make the program more accessible.

  • Early Bird Discount (10%)

    Available across all the African Angel Academy Cohort 12 learning tracks to participants who apply and are accepted within the first two weeks of the application period.

  • Group Discount (5%)

    Apply as a pair or group (minimum of 2 per group) to benefit from a 5% discount each in your program fees. Each person must submit their own application form and list their group members’ names and emails. Discounts will be confirmed only after all group applications are received and verified. Note: Selecting the group option without verified group members will result in standard pricing.

  • Referral Bonus

    Refer a friend to the program, and once they’re accepted and complete their payment, you’ll receive a complimentary learning module of your choice.
