About the Program

The Angel Leads Program, supported by the UK-Kenya Tech Hub, is designed to strengthen the angel investing ecosystem in Kenya by equipping investors with the necessary knowledge, networks, and structures to make informed early-stage investments. The program will focus on engaging investment groups, organizations that support informal chamas, and solo investors, encouraging them to participate as individuals or representatives of their groups. This program specifically targets investors in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, and one other town, ensuring region-based syndicate formation and investment opportunities.

  • This program provides a unique opportunity to:

  • Gain structured training on angel investing and startup syndication.

  • Form and participate in regional investment syndicates.

  • Receive expert mentorship and technical support on legal structuring and investment execution.

  • Participate in an alumni mentorship coaching program to mentor high-potential startups and identify investment opportunities.

This program journey comprises of:

  • A 6-week Training Program

    Learn how to source, negotiate, and manage investments through a 6-week self-paced training program.

  • Live Investor Deep Dives & Masterclasses

    Engage in bi-weekly sessions with course instructors and guest investors every Wednesday at 18:00 EAT to discuss key topics and ask module-specific questions.

  • Capstone Project

    Work in regional groups to form angel syndicates, define an investment mandate, and nominate startups for post-program mentorship.

  • Syndicate & Group Mentorship

    Investment syndicates will receive mentorship and technical assistance over an 8-week journey, helping them refine their investment mandate, structure their syndicate, and prepare for collaborative deal-making.

  • Startup Engagement

    Angel mentees will take part in a 6-week Angel Mentorship Coaching Program, where they will mentor the startups they nominated during the capstone project. This hands-on experience will culminate in a Startup Showcase, where participants will present and evaluate these startups, selecting those they may choose to invest in post-mentorship.

  • Join a growing Alumni Community

    Join a growing alumni community of 700+ angel investors from 26+ African countries for continued learning, networking, and investment opportunities.

    Participants commit 2-3 hours per week to learning, mentorship, and workshops, with a $1,000 investment in a regional syndicate to fund high-potential startups.
